Manual or electric?
Pallet trucks lift a pallet a few centimetres off the floor and move it horizontally. They are far cheaper and simpler than a forklift, and for most warehouse work they are enough — as long as you do not need to lift onto racking.
- Manual pallet truck: no power needed and almost no maintenance. Suited to short, occasional moves.
- Electric pallet truck: markedly reduces operator fatigue over long aisles, frequent repeat moves and heavy pallets.
Choosing
- Pallet weight and how many moves per day
- Travel distance and aisle width
- Floor condition — ramps call for an electric model
- Fork length against your pallet size
If loads must be lifted to height, a pallet truck will not do — look at forklifts.
